Professional-Grade EPS Board & Reinforcement Mesh for Durable, Long-Lasting Insulation Systems
Tytan IS 21 is a high-performance, dual-purpose adhesive and reinforcement mortar specifically developed for use with EPS insulation boards and reinforcement mesh in TYTAN® Insulation Systems. Supplied in a 25kg bag, this versatile product delivers unmatched reliability for both fixing expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards and embedding reinforcing mesh in external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). Engineered to withstand the rigours of UK weather conditions and the demands of modern construction, IS 21 offers superior adhesion, excellent flexibility, and exceptional workability—making it a go-to solution for contractors, façade specialists, and insulation professionals.
Whether you’re insulating a new build or upgrading an existing façade, Tytan IS 21 ensures a secure and breathable thermal envelope. Its advanced formula allows for minor substrate movement without cracking, while maintaining resistance to moisture ingress and freeze-thaw cycles. With a generous pot life and easy-to-mix consistency, it supports efficient and precise application across a range of site conditions.
Flexible Formula – Compensates for thermal movement and substrate shifts, preventing surface cracks.
Exceptional Adhesion – Bonds securely to both EPS insulation boards and mineral-based substrates.
Vapor Permeable – Allows moisture to escape from within the building envelope without compromising insulation performance.
All-Weather Durability – Withstands UK climate extremes including wind-driven rain, heat, and frost.
Frost Resistant (After Setting) – Maintains mechanical properties through repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Versatile Use – Suitable for both external and internal thermal insulation systems.
Extended Pot Life – Up to 2 hours of working time for flexible installation, even on complex façades.
Consistent Performance – Reliable curing and setting within 1–3 days, depending on conditions.
Tytan IS 21 is an ideal solution for a wide range of insulation projects, including:
New Build Thermal Insulation – Secures EPS boards and embeds reinforcement mesh in external wall insulation systems.
Refurbishment of Existing Buildings – Ideal for upgrading energy efficiency on residential, commercial, and public structures using ETICS methodology.
Internal Wall Insulation Systems – Effective in controlled environments where internal insulation is preferred.
Suitable Users – Designed for use by professional contractors, façade system installers, and trained DIYers working on thermal retrofits or new façades.
Its proven compatibility with EPS insulation and mesh makes Tytan IS 21 a reliable and cost-effective component of modern energy-efficient building systems.
Preparation:
Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or loose particles.
Check surface evenness; uneven areas may require levelling before application.
Mixing:
Pour 5.25–5.5 litres of clean water into a mixing container.
Gradually add the 25kg bag of Tytan IS 21, mixing continuously with a slow-speed drill and paddle.
Mix for 3–5 minutes until a smooth, lump-free consistency is achieved.
Allow to mature for 5 minutes, then briefly remix before application.
Application as Adhesive (EPS Board Fixing):
Apply the adhesive to the back of the EPS board using the perimeter-dot method (a continuous strip around the edge and several dabs in the centre).
Press the board firmly against the substrate and adjust position as necessary.
Allow to set before mechanical fixing (if required by system spec).
Application as Reinforcement Mortar:
Once the EPS boards are firmly fixed, apply a 3–5 mm base coat of Tytan IS 21 using a stainless steel trowel.
Immediately embed the reinforcing mesh into the wet layer, pressing it in with the trowel so it sits centrally within the base coat.
Smooth the surface, ensuring full mesh coverage and no wrinkles.
Apply a second thin layer to fully cover the mesh if necessary.
Allow to cure for 1–3 days, depending on site conditions, before proceeding with primer and final render.
Tytan IS 21 – Built to Last, Engineered for Efficiency
